Equatorial Guinea coup prevented:

Late as always. The Sunday Herald says the plot, led by a former British SAS member, intended to install Spanish-based opposition leader Severo Moto Nsa. Obiang, EG dictator since 1979, reportedly has prostrate cancer, leading to concerns over succession. The Star has more coverage on the American angle in EG, and notes that the US re-opened it's embassy last October after closing it 8 years ago in protest of human rights conditions, which haven't changed for the better before or since. British millionaire Ely Calil has been accused of financing the operation, links to outside actors thus far largely indicate persons or corporations. Here's some more background, such as it is.
