the extent to which Ted Rall has a point is the same extent to which I've paid tens of thousands in taxes in the past few years, just about all of which went to causing disasters, rather than relieving them, let alone preventing them. Etc.

Starving charities to incentivize government is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. The crackpot-in-office quotient is at an all time high and, in any event, the fisc of a powerful state is nothing like a household budget.
