"Civil war is a more likely outcome in Iraq than democracy, Britain's outgoing ambassador in Baghdad has warned Tony Blair in a confidential memo". Clever fellow, he says if a radically different course is persued maybe Iraq will only be "messy" for a decade. What happens if we stay the course? Presumably the definition of civil war for guys like our top commanding general in the middle east and the chairman of the joint chiefs requires some genocidal level of violence.
