    Read this, then read this, so as to ponder the horizon. You cannot defeat terror with terror. You cannot advocate democracy abroad when democrats abroad fear your advocacy. Democrats abroad fear Washington's advocacy because it doesn't represent anything to them beyond hamfisted publicity stunts for Washington's benefit. Washington's lack of any interest in such advocacy beyond hamfisted publicity stunts is the sort of problem easily remedied by an invested public. The public's lack of any investment is a problem left for the reader.
